(Re-Tasted August 2007) … The nose has pepper, blueberry, plum and opens with a little forest floor when the bottle was first opened, but this fades after about 30 minutes. There’s still some oak in there along with vanilla, pepper, cedar, blackberry, currants and some tannin kick. Is there much life left in this bottle - time will tell, another two years might be pushing it - but I’m willing to give it a shot. Down she goes again, thank goodness I bought a few extra bottles.
On occasion, I’ll take a wine I like and put it away in a “special box” for a few years to see how it will age … below you will read happened to those wines. On the other hand, there are wines that get “lost” in my wine cellar with nary a review ever written - some have turned into golden Treasures, others supreme Trash and then there are those that fall somewhere in-between (Tolerable). We’ll look at those here too. (New wines are being added all the time so keep coming back):

Chateau des Charmes 1999 Estate Cabernet-Merlot
